Surf Lessons: Uranus in Gemini

This Gemini Sun Season, I want to hone in on the planet that spins on its side! URANUS. Planet of nonconformity (radical authenticity), surprises and trajectory-shifting revelations. Uranus is now transiting through the mutable air sign of Gemini until 2033.
Uranus travels through each sign of the zodiac for about 7 years, making for an 84-year orbit. We received a taste of this new Uranus in Gemini energy from July–November 2025 when Uranus dipped into this air sign. It then went retrograde, back into Taurus.
Then, on April 25, 2026, Uranus moved again into Gemini where it will be until May 2033.
NEW 7-YEAR URANIAN CHAPTER:
So, here we are at the beginning of a new 7-year Uranian chapter with lightning bolt breakthroughs, pivots and earthquake-y upheavals, shake-ups and all manner of wild cards stimulating the Geminian realm.
Wherever Gemini is located in your birth chart (houses) and any planets or sensitive points (nodes or angles) that you may have in Gemini – it is here we have signed up for surf lessons over the course of these next 7 years! We are learning how to keep soft knees, lower our center of gravity and ride the waves.
Innovation is ready to happen here.
Openness and adaptability to changes in plan, new ideas dropping in, unexpected pathways appearing, twists and turns are all par for the course.
GEMINIAN REALM:
Gemini is the sign of the zodiac all about our communications, the way we gather, receive and share information, ideas and experience, as well as the way we perceive and process it all.
I already feel some distinct shifts in my own being regarding this Geminian realm. I find myself gravitating to even more experiential learning, as well as the draw to offer more experiential learning in my own teaching and facilitation. Less lecture and more embodied sensing, feeling and exploring.
EMERGENT TEACHING:
Last month, I participated in Kimberly Ann Johnson's live online class series, Activate Your Inner Jaguar.
It was my first experience of Kimberly's teaching, and I have to admit I was surprised and somewhat uncomfortable by her teaching style at first! It turns out the way she teaches actually has a name: Emergent Teaching. Although, she said she has been instinctively teaching this way long before it was named as such.
Amidst my initial discomfort, I was also intrigued by her style. I'd never been in a class where the facilitator was predominantly teaching in flow with what was emerging in the moment, with long pauses of silence sprinkled in.
By the time we were midway through the month-long series, I felt energized and also relaxed and trusting in the organic, truly in-the-moment unfolding of her facilitation. I also appreciated the spaciousness of the long pauses for integration and coming back to my breath and body.
She guided somatic explorations for at least half of each class time, usually involving primal movements and sounds. Exploring predator energy in the wild, in our own animal bodies. Jaw movements, showing of teeth, steady eye contact, growling, crawling around on all fours, clawing and biting into something (like a rolled up blanket or towel)...powerful stuff!
MULTIPLICITY:
Kimberly had several guest teachers join her in this Jaguar journey, guiding embodied practices of Qigong, Tibetan Buddhist meditation and spontaneous expression through art.
The multiple modalities allowed for varied ways of learning, processing and expressing. Insights arose and connections were made from places other than the cognitive, thinking mind.
OUR EXTRAORDINARY OPPORTUNITY:
I think we have an extraordinary opportunity here at the beginning of this Uranus in Gemini chapter and onward:
We are being invited to be curious and wildly open to new and unfamiliar avenues of engaging with each other, with information and experience, both on the sharing and receiving ends of things.
There are layers of perceiving, knowing and expressing that we are poised to connect with, which are only accessible beyond our familiar.
High potential Gemini energy loves to be stretched into new territory, because it thrives upon learning and a diversity of experience.
Gemini is at its best in a beginner's state of mind, guided by its north star: curiosity. In this space, Gemini meets the moment with responsiveness to what is actually here and emergent in the now.
Being a mutable sign, Gemini invites us to go beyond where we've yet been in our explorations of agility, jazz-like improvisation and the freedom to pivot, to change things up in any given moment.
